Word Musing in Cursive on Colorful Background
These poems were created following the template from the storytelling activity during the January 5th service.  Our authors are Tina Domeyer, Don Leake, and Nancy Miller.  Can you match the author with the poem?
I Am From Number 1
I am from bold wallpaper of stop signs and old cars
From a playhouse and car ports
I am from the brick house with hidden stain glass and warm radiators
I am from the towering white pine that was strong and protective
I am from rhubarb pie and persimmon pudding
From Gladys and Luther,  Angeline and Lawrence and Flo and Luke.
I’m from stubborn and humble, from work hard and listen and Gentle Woman
I’m from Beverly and gardens/flowers from ancestors,
From the C.C. Lorance photograph hung in the back room which taught me about working hard and nature.
I Am From Number 2
I am from good rocks from my pocket and the earth.
I am from The Mighty Rock River in the Town of Water and I’ve been flowing on and on ever since.
I am from the Roman Catholics, who were right all along.
I’m from a mixed marriage of highly educated parents who hoped for their children.
I’m from noise and quiet, hope and despair.
I’m from the State Capitol and the County Seat
.From Mom and Dad, Bob, Janet, Tom, Betty and Margie, who taught me about strength and perseverance.
I Am From Number 3
I am from single-speed bikes, from rope swings and wiffle balls.
I am from steep streets and freshly baked bread.
I am from the maple tree that dared me to climb.
I’m from Aunt Bill’s brown candy and 24 hour salad, from H. H. and Dorothy.I’m from curiosity and determination, from “Don’t be sorry, be right.”and “Can’t never did anything.” and the Golden Rule.
I’m from Scots-Irish and cornbread and gooseberry pie,
From rafting the flooded creek to Crane and the chiming clock on the mantle above the fireplace which taught me that everything has its frailties.
