February 1, 2026 “Embodying Resilience – Blue Zones” – Alison Page
Following the theme for February, Alison will talk about Blue Zones, places on the planet where people live the longest, healthiest lives imaginable. We can create our own blue zone by weaving health and wellness into the fiber of our community. Efforts are afoot in western Wisconsin to do just that!
Poetry Group will meet after the service.
February 8, 2026 “Touching Grass in Tang Dynasty China” – Shinko Rick Slone
Shinko Rick Slone, Sensei of the Snowy River Zen Center, will share a Zen teaching on Cultivating Resilience, which is the Soul Matters theme for February.
February 15, 2026 “How We See Water” – Grace Coggio and Tovah Flygare
The presentation/conversation will explore the water we see, such as the rivers flowing through our communities, and the water we don’t, such as underground filtration and the wells many of us rely on. We’ll also discuss local efforts and perspectives on learning from and supporting the health of this precious, life-giving resource. Finally, we’ll highlight upcoming events focused on water (i.e. the 2/24 Water & Right to Know campus event with WCV, St. Croix CURES).
Grace L. Coggio is a Professor of Communication & Media Studies and a Sustainability Fellow at UWRF.
Tovah Flygare is a St. Croix Watershed Steward, Teacher, Lecturer, and Community Member.
