September 2024 Sunday Services

UUSRF Calendar-of-Events

September Services:

September: Practice of Invitation

1st Sunday, September 1st. Focus Spiritual

September 8th, 2nd Sunday: This River Falls Journal ad invited people to help initiate UUSRF back in the spring of 1988.  See the ad above to the right and below in a larger format.

Questions concerning living love through the practice of invitation will be the focus of our September kickoff service. What is the most beautiful invitation you have ever received?  What relationship invited you to grow up the most?  If you could only invite two new things into your life in the coming year, what would they be?  These are just a few of the questions that we might explore together this Sunday.  Please join us. And invite someone to come with you.

September 15, 3rd Sunday:

An Invitation to Social Action

Both Unitarian and Universalist histories are inseparable from social and political action over the years. Since the Unitarians and the Universalists consolidated in 1961, the resulting Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations has continued a proud legacy of activism. At this service we will reengage with our activism selves and plan ways that UUSRF can reenter service to others. Love is at the center of our new UU “flower”. Let’s plan for ways to show our love to our wider community.

September 22, 4th Sunday:

An Invitation to live our UUSRF Relational Covenant.

We all experience the challenges of social connection in our country where some people thrive on mocking and threatening others. We see it powerfully in our political system. Let’s look at how we can be the change we want to see as we review our Relational Covenant. What does it mean to be with each other in a respectful and uplifting manner? How do we create space for different opinions? How does that look and feel? Join us for this community discussion and share your point of view.

September 29, 5th Sunday: Still being planned.

Plan for September 2024 through June 2025:

The Program Committee/Board is looking at the UUA Soul Matters themes for the next year. See the info and image (one of the 4 mentioned at the beginning of this edition) below or Check them out here: https://www.soulmatterssharingcircle.com/themes.html

2024-2025 Themes

This year’s overarching frame is The Practices of Our Faith. We’re using this frame to focus on how Unitarian Universalism is a lived faith that inspires us to act, live, and love our values out in the world. Or to put it another way, we’re diving into our long-loved commitment to “deeds not creeds.” Our overarching frame is also a way for us to connect to our new UU core value of Liberating Love, with each of our monthly themes framed as a practice that helps us embody liberating love in our daily lives.

The Practice of…

September:  Invitation
October:  Deep Listening
November:  Repair
December:  Presence
January:  Story
