
Jan. 4 “What Nature Can Teach Us About Life and Death” – Maureen Ash – We all die, sooner or later. In the natural world, a dead animal is a life source for everything from microbes to oak trees. It is fascinating to learn about the ways life “finds a way” (to quote from Jurassic Park) to use death as an opportunity, from burying beetles to vultures to plants and trees.
Jan. 11 “Food, Farming and Spirit” – Tara Greiman – Tara is the Director of Conservation and Stewardship for the Wisconsin Farmers Union.
Jan. 18 “Practicing Resistance” – Sarah O’Neill – The face of resistance has changed over the decades. This week, we celebrate Martin Luther King from the 1960s. But what does resistance look like today? Sarah O’Neill, co-founder of Project 3.5, will join us to talk about the organizations efforts in the region. She will also share her own story of resistance and how she came to be moved to action.
Jan. 25 “The story of Mildred Fish-Harnack” – Alison Page – How does a woman raised on the west side of Milwaukee grow up to be become a force in the resistance movement in Nazi Germany and change the course of history? We will learn about and discuss the life of this amazing Wisconsinite and the elements of her journey that led her to a life of resistance.
