UUSRF Notices:

Be there with us at the Kinni View Deli - for the first in a series of "RiseUp Reads"

Dark Money Has Transformed American Politics

Turns out the feelings of helplessness we are all experiencing, along with the epidemic of hate and division has been carefully engineered by just a couple of individuals with HUGE wealth. They have been plotting since the 1970s to take government completely apart, leaving only the little they need to protect their interests. Wondering what to do about it?  Join us for lunch and to begin discussion of the book Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right by New York Times reporter Jane Mayer.

You don't have to have read the book to join the discussion. (In fact, I have only read the first half so far!) Please come to talk about this amazing insight into our predicament.

Time: 12 P.M. Wednesday October 11th

Place: Kinni View Deli, towards the rear of Riverwalk on the Main Street level, 127 North Main Street, River Falls WI 54022

The Deli serves delicious lunches or bring your own!

This is the first in a series of “RiseUp Reads” open discussions of books and other media which will be held the second Wednesday of each month. These events are sponsored by RiseUp Western Wisconsin.

Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right is riveting journalism and required reading to fully understand the hijacking of U.S. democracy and the rise of the tea party infrastructure. While you probably know many pieces of the story, Mayer has constructed the master narrative of the unequal times we are living through.

Heidi Nemcek wants you to know that the Medicinal Herb Classes will continue.

Heidi and her partner in Herbs, Lisa Mosbey will continue to educate us about the wonders of the natural plant world and what they can do for your mood and health, skin, comfort and even the enjoyment and conservation of this planet. First Saturdays of each month in our kitchen.

This Saturday, we will be digging powerful medicinal roots that run rampant in our tended and untended yards and fields.  Learn what to harvest and how, what to avoid and why, what you have growing near you and could enjoy and store for use throughout the year.  Lots of good information is shared whether out in the wild or in the UUSRF Kitchen.  They are adjusting the class fees down to accommodate a larger group. Come and see what you can learn.  Contact Heidi if you have questions.
